No - Till Drill Information
This no till drill is offered to farmers in Elk and Cameron Counties. This equipment is offered on a first come, first serve bases. The cost to rent the drill is $12 per acre. It is expected that the drill will return in the condition it was borrowed in. Returning the equipment dirty is unacceptable. We have a responsibility to the environment and to other farms to ensure that we’re not transporting invasive species or other materials where they do not belong. A $150 fee will be added to the bill if not cleaned out properly. There will also be a $75 per day late fee if the drill is not back to the Elk County Conservation District when agreed upon by both the District and Farmer.
About Our Drill
Our Drill is a Remlinger Grain Drill Model 2300. It is a 7-foot-wide drill with 7.5 in. spacing between the disks. Due to the size of the drill, a minimum of a 75hp tractor will be needed for planting. For additional information about the no-till drill, please see the user’s manual below.

Benefits of Converting to No TillingÂ
Benefits of no-till drilling include: minimizing soil disturbance, maximizing diversity, and improving soil health. By using a no-till drill instead of traditional tilling, living organisims in the soil are permitted to thrive. Additionally, traditional tilling is a major source of soil erosion in Pennsylvania, with productive topsoil eroding at an alarming rate. The biggest benefit of all is that no-till drilling saves the farmer time and money.
